Why you should pray for leaders, especially national leaders….(the gospel imperative)

Why you should pray for leaders, especially national leaders….(the gospel imperative)

In our daily 5am prayer as a church, Friday is our Global Nations Watch.
We pray for the nations of the World.  As we prayed this morning, we realized:

1. The leaders of nations can be influenced & controlled by wicked spirits….just like anyone else.
The impact of this on a national leader is that an entire nation can be led astray…

Read: Ephesians 2:1-2

And you has he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
Wherein in time past you walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

2. Wicked spirits look for platforms of expression in humanity….
When wicked spirits find expression in the life of a national leader, the destiny of an entire nation may be aborted and the desire of satan fulfilled.
We resisted the hijacking of the destinies of nations in prayer….

3. This is why we must be intentional; consistent; persistent and powerful in prayer for nations and their leaders…
The lives of billions are at stake…

4. The wonderful news is that the Father can influence & inspire leaders to do His will…even unawares..
The Father can do this – even with unsaved leaders…
The Father did it with king Cyrus so He can do it in our time…

Read: Isaiah 45:1-4

This is what the Lord says to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have held, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut;
I will go before you, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron:
And I will give you the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that you may know that I, the LORD, which call you by your name, am the God of Israel.
For Jacob my servant’s sake, and Israel my elect, I have even called you by your name: I have surnamed you, though you have not known me.
