JESUS is building his church – how to be a part of it

Nevertheless the foundation of God stands sure, having this seal, The Lord knows them that are his. And, Let every one that names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

(2 Timothy 2:19)

Once you hear the word, “foundation,” it implies that a building project is in progress.  What is this building project?  This building project is the church of Jesus Christ.

The church of Jesus Christ has a seal.  A seal is an authorized mark of distinction.  A seal is only necessary when there are other similar projects in progress.  If there is an authorized foundation – there are fake, illegal and illegitimate foundations.

God places His seal of approval on the authentic, genuine foundation that God is building in Jesus Christ in order to guide anyone who is interested in building their life on the truth.  Those who are in it for games do not care to check for a seal.  Anything will do for them.  Seals are for lovers of the authentic, the genuine, the truth.

So, how can you identify the seal of God on the church.  Well, just like the seal on an authentic piece of clothing or shoes will have an identifiable mark – so does the foundation of the genuine church of Jesus Christ.  So there is something written on the seal of the legitimate church of Jesus Christ.

The seal says, “The Lord knows them that are His.”  This is a bold declaration by the master over the church, our Father in heaven and Jesus Christ whom He sent into the world.  What is the declaration?  The declaration is “You cannot fool me, I have the records of my sons!” Following that is a piece of advice of how we are all supposed to respond to this seal.

What is the wise response?  It is given to us with the words, “And, Let every one that names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” In other words – “If you want to be included amongst those who are His – depart from iniquity!”  What is iniquity?  Iniquity is sin.  Whoever mentions the name of the Lord Jesus Christ in His church must depart or repent from sin to be included amongst those who are God’s legitimate sons.

Not every one that says unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name? and in your name have cast out devils? and in your name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity. (Matthew 7:21-23)

Being in a car port does not make you car as much as being amongst the sons of God make you one of them.  Attending a gathering of believers and mentioning the name of Jesus Christ does not make you His son.  In the text above, Jesus speaks of a severe conversation that He will have with some of us when the time comes.

Jesus promises that there are many that will be rejected – having praised the name of Jesus and said “Amen!” in church as well as doing all sorts of ministry.  Ministry including praise and worship, prophesying and casting out of devils.  What is the basis of their rejection?  It is their iniquity!  Their sin!  Sin will be the basis of rejection before the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ whom He sent as savior into the world.

What is sin?  Sin is living out of alignment with the Word of God. Therefore, it’s not saying “Lord, Lord..” that qualifies you.  It is doing the will or Word of the Father in heaven.  It is living out the lifestyle commanded by the word!

If you are amidst the church of God and mentioning the name of Jesus today, you can ensure that you are really a part of His Church today.  Jesus is building His church, and YOU can be a part of it – by departing from iniquity!

And I say also unto you, That you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.  (Matthew 16:18)

There are many gathering that man is building in the earth that are mentioning the name of Jesus Christ.  I said “man” is building them.  JESUS is not building these places.  The only church that Jesus is committed to build is the church founded on Jesus Christ, He is the authentic foundation, free from iniquity.  He is the Head of the Church that He is building in cooperation with His servants in the earth.  Servants who have departed from iniquity and committed themselves to holiness.
