Growth – The imperative of growth

Growth – The imperative of growth

As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that you may grow thereby:  (1 Peter 2:2)

Once you are born again, the next objective is your growth. In the same way that a child is born and must of a necessity grow, it’s imperative that you grow as a believer.

Growth requires that you pay attention to the factors that create that growth in you. The principal driver of your growth as a believer once you are born again is the word of God. You must feed on it the way a child feeds on milk.

You will grow by feeding continually on the correct doctrine of the Word. Doctrine refers to an organised body of teaching. So it matters what kind of teaching you pay attention to.

These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.  (Acts 17:11)

Not anything quoted from the Bible is good spiritual mean. Correct interpretation and explanation is important. You have to pay attention to your personal relationship with God to acquire the correct interpretation of scripture.

The teachings that you receive from others are secondary. Your personal time of study is primary.

It’s your personal responsibility to check what you hear, because the truth can be used to tell a lie.
